Positively Negative

Recently, I received a comment from a reader about the negativity displayed on this blog. They then proceeded to disparage me with personal attacks on my character. And I suppose one could see it that way, even myself.
And I suppose I could post a comment about how much I liked, Batman Begins, a movie I saw over the weekend. I could talk about how well the story was constructed, the excellent direction by Christopher Nolan, or the great performances by Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson. I could recommend the movie to just about anyone, but it would just be my opinion. Such is the same with my other postings, they are just opinions.
But unfortunately, I am no longer like "got a grip". I don't sit back and drink a beer or smoke a bong, watch t.v. and pretend there's nothing wrong with this picture. And going through my previous postings, I don't think I was excessively harsh on anybody, except for those slime bucket brain damaged "we've come for your children" army recruiters. What I do is merely base my opinion on facts I find on the web, and then post a link to the source of the facts. (Or like now where I post alink to cool blog I found http://www.weirdandfunkyart.blogspot.com )
I do this because fact is as close to truth as you can get. Ten years ago, when I was a stoner, I saw a doc on the local public access channel that contained raw footage from the seige at Waco. The movie went on to show how NBC then edited the raw footage to make it appear as if the Branch Davidians had fired first. This is from the same media that was telling me that NAFTA would be great for this country. I began to read, and more important, I began to think. One by one I removed the knowledge filters and belief systems. I began to speak out more, at the untruths spewed forth by the left and the right.
More importantly, I became angry at the direction I saw my country headed in. I felt frustrated because there was nothing I can do. Then I discovered this place through http://whatreallyhappened.com . I can complain about it here, and maybe, when the "terrorists" attack during a training drill http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=news_government&Number=293794349#Post293794349 I can say, I tol' ya!

I call it being positively negative.

Well, I don't obsess over it. I live in a highly concentrated Republican area of a blue state. It's a place where "Christian" means Republican and therefore all Bush's crimes are absolved, where Bill Clinton's weren't because Bill Clinton is a "liberal", therefore he's a goner. I am concerned about the War in Iran because it's already started, covertly, just like the US stepped up it's bombing campaign in Iraq six months before the "official" shock and awe. But most of all, I don't like being lied to by some grinning illiterate monkey, well, really, I don't like being lied to at all, as I've always tried to be honest at all times, damn the consequences. Like my dad always used to say, "The only thing worse than a thief is a liar."
And yes, Michael Caine was excellent, but I didn't even realize it was Gary Oldman until the credits rolled. I began to get involved with Batman about five years ago, when my oldest boy was three, we watched The Animated Series together, which really integrated me into the whole Batman mythology, which this movie follows closer than any other. I think that short of Kevin Conroy, who did the voice for TAS, Christian Bale has been the best Batman/Bruce Wayne ever. I certainly hope when they make the sequel that Christopher Nolan directs again, as I feel that this movie is as good as his "Memento". Just last week, my boys and I watched the Michael Keaton (Tim Burton) Batman, and I found it to be lacking, with the original Prince songs sounding so out of place with what else was going on the picture. Even my oldest noticed how Keaton had problems moving around in his Batsuit. So, as you can see, I don't just obsess on the Bush Administration, I just feel my best writing comes from the fire of anger withtin me.
