But hey, the The US has never had a need for a Human Rights Council anyway, because it offers rights to all those pesky brown skinned people living over the oil. That's why neocons in the US have got the House to OK a possible Israeli raid on Iran.(With support from the US, you know, the country that was so broke it couldn't afford to provide unemployment benefits to it's people) Even though Iran poses no threat to Israel, they are calling for an illegal "pre-emptive strike" against Tehran because Israel has a right to "self-defense". That same specious argument could also be used by Iran for building the nuclear weapons that the US claims they are despite all evidence to the contrary.
So when they start burning Korans in Florida this September 11, remember that the most vile hateful and evil country on the planet is

Nope, we don't need no UN, but we sure the hell like to use and abuse it when want us a good war or two. Good thing we got NATO when the Commies in the UN slow us down.
Israel keeps trying to get its bitch (that's us) to help them attack Iran. Or even better, we could do all the heavy lifting ourselves and Israel could just supervise.
Like Gates said, going to war with Iran is the last thing we need to do.
But let's be clear about what's going on. This is an election year. Republicans want all the Jewish campaign donations and other support they can get. So, they introduce Resolution 1553, which doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of passing. But it looks good to a lot of pro-Israel American Jews. It also serves GOP interests by saying to Jews:
"We're the ones who support Israel. You watch, Democrats will thwart our effort to eliminate the threat from Iran." IOW, this is political crepe hanging.
I recall a much more worrisome effort to gin up public support for the U.S. to attack Iran in late 2006 and 2007. That was after the GOP lost control of Congress and ahead of the 2008 election – not coincidental.
Dave,
The irony is, at least for Israel, is that it wouldn't even exist were it not for the UN
Tom,
I think both the US and Israel are hopped up to start another war because that's all we know how to do. We've collectively declared war on drugs, poverty and terror, to no avail, Afghanistan and Iraq, and those didn't pan out, maybe we just hang it up.

In a way this is just more election year posturing by the right, to tell not only the Jewish Americans, but the Islamophobes that only they are willing to "deal" with the (imagined) threat from Iran
I think the efforts to attack Iran are primarily about the potential profits for the mercenary corporations, the arms merchants, and Big Oil.
Capitalists usually start wars to solve economic "crises." Their definition of "crisis" is raping the public til for trillions in fiat money and giving nothing back. "Public" no longer exists in American, in fact, this tyranny of Baby Boomers has criminalized the notion of "public" and "public space." There are enough Zionist-lite Democrats in Congress to green-light another war of aggression. We knew this all along about the House of Saud. As stated, Nihilism is very de rigueur amongst the globalist death culture set. The Saudis are no exception: bank rolling the low-intensity eugenicide of the Arab and Muslim world. It's Iran's turn.
