Cindy Doesn't Need The Democratic Party, And Neither Does Anyone Else

Cindy Sheehan is quits with the Democratic Party, and I don't blame her. After she mobilized the antiwar sentiment in this country, the Democrats exploited her, then chewed her up and spit her out like Grandma's anise candy once they gained control of Congress. Proving they are as useful as an asshole on your elbow, the Democrats have disappointed all but the blindly loyal members, who are as stupid as the 28% of Republicans who still support the commander guy. Kool-aid drinkers are essentially the same no matter what flavor they prefer.
At least the Republicans gleefully admit their evilness and wear it proudly like a swatztika on the lapel. The Democrats pretend to be concerned and in touch with the American people, but then Rahm Emmanuel and the DLC work behind the scenes to ensure that in the end, there is no real difference between the two parties. Having two parties that accomplish the same thing makes about as much sense as wearing two pairs of socks in the summer so one pair can absorb all the extra sweat.
Yes, the Democrats have put our expectations on the permanent down escalator to Hell. As Ms. Sheehan put it:
I am deemed a radical because I believe that partisan politics should be left to the wayside when hundreds of thousands of people are dying for a war based on lies that is supported by Democrats and Republican alike. It amazes me that people who are sharp on the issues and can zero in like a laser beam on lies, misrepresentations, and political expediency when it comes to one party refuse to recognize it in their own party. Blind party loyalty is dangerous whatever side it occurs on. People of the world look on us Americans as jokes because we allow our political leaders so much murderous latitude and if we don’t find alternatives to this corrupt "two" party system our Representative Republic will die and be replaced with what we are rapidly descending into with nary a check or balance: a fascist corporate wasteland. I am demonized because I don’t see party affiliation or nationality when I look at a person, I see that person’s heart. If someone looks, dresses, acts, talks and votes like a Republican, then why do they deserve support just because he/she calls him/herself a Democrat?

Why, indeed.

Excellent post. I'm Canadian, so can't comment on the whole Democratic/Republican thing, but it all comes down to hypocrisy really - and that, sadly, is universal.

Good one Lew...some day we'll be able to look back on this as a distant memory...hopefully.

IMHO, we ALREADY are a one party fascist state.

Undeniable Liberal is right and you have done a great job of presenting Cindy's frustrations as a reflection of our own, Lew.

You're right, nobody "deserves" our support. It must be earned, and I;m tired of the left being taken for granted because there's nothing better.

Well, there's better, there's green. But that often feels like wheel spinning!
