I Call Bullshit On That!

Soulless media chief Rupert Murdoch announced today his intention to cancel the OJ Simpson book and television interview that has so enraged this country.
``I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project,'' Murdoch said today in an e-mailed statement

Bullshit! All you thought about was how much money could possibly made from this project. You never considered anything else because you're a greedy bastard who would sell pictures of his grandma having mid-air sex with Osama Bin Laden over the troops in Iraq with a burning American flag as a fucking parachute if you thought it could bring in a couple more shekels for you already over-bloated bank account.
The outrage over this project was spreading like Paris Hilton's legs after a Saturday night club-hopping at all the right places. But somewhere in Rupert's gold-plated brain all he could think about the old maxim "There's no such thing as bad publicity".
"Cancellation shows that there is a level beneath which the public is not willing to sink, and it's good news,'' said Paul Levinson, chairman of the communications department at Fordham University in New York. ``Rupert Murdoch did the right thing and deserves credit on this.''

Bullshit! He wasn't pulling the book and interview because it was the right thing to do! Why would he back away from this? Could the cancellation come because of over a dozen Fox affiliates refusing to carry the show, coming as it did during sweeps, which determines television advertising rates? Or was it the fact the News Corp. stock price fell 17 cents? Or maybe a combination of the two? Rupert Murdoch doesn't think with his heart, his brain, or even his pecker, he thinks with his goddamn wallet and if it starts to lose even fifty two cents, he flip-flops more than Bill O'Reilly in the no-spin zone.
The only thing good about this is it beginning to renew my faith in the common decency of the American people following their rejection of the Republican party and their ill-gotten war in the election two weeks ago. Hurrah people! Now let's see what we can do about Dick Cheney.

I was really looking forward to this book. Shit! Damn liberals and their pettyness. What next? If I'm a man accused of a war crime, but found innocent of said crime, I can't write a book to say how if I "were" guilty of such a crime, well how I would have committed the crime? The Juice needs to find a new publisher, there is a market.
I trust the judicial system of the USA, OJ Simpson was NOT found guilty, so he is not...why do we not treat him as an innocent man?

Well put, Lew. The thing I noticed about this was that a few days ago this Judith Regan pushed the envelope of the Republican excuse machine to new levels by blaming it on someone else BEFORE the act (in this case publishing the book and putting the interview on TV) is even committed! Why wait until after? Get the damn excuse out there beforehand! No, it didn't have anything to do with money or sweeps week! Of course not! It was because she herself was a victim! Yes, indeed. In fact, the real reason she was doing it was to perform an act of public service for all the battered women out there in the world, who would receive cathartic relief from reliving the near-severing of Nicole's head. And I'm sure "public service" was Rupert's only reason too.

He should scapegoat and fire Judith Reagan.

Anonymous,
if there is vermin out there like you who would read this book, then I'm sure there is a publisher slimy enough to publish it. Rupert Murdoch is just the cream of the crop at the bottom of the barrel.

As they are fond of saying in anonymous's home territory, this is a , "jump the shark moment." Fox's ratings were already slipping. A Bu Bye.

it seems like 'they' are trying to do anything and everything to get us back in line with their way of thinking (ie: Fox News)

too bad, so sad - we're not gonna take it anymore!!

You're absolutely right that money was the motivating factor. I don't have the link handy, but I read earlier today (Think Progress blog I believe) that Murdoch's company offered hush money to the victims families in return for their silence. Of course, neither family took the money because they're not heartless people like Murdoch.

Does anyone else find this statement laughable: " If I'm a man accused of a war crime, but found innocent of said crime, I can't write a book to say how if I "were" guilty of such a crime, well how I would have committed the crime?"...... THIS statement from a person who is so ball-less and spineless that he purposefully remains Anonymous while posting comments on a blog???..... Are any of us honestly supposed to think that Anon would have the balls, spine, or integrity to 'fess up to a crime in a book?
Not bloody likely.... but he's right... simply blame everything on the " Damn liberals and their pettyness"... sigh...

Lew,
What has really gotten my goat was that no one in the MSM challenges Murdoch's statement that it "was an ill considered project." It was not "ill considered" by Fox, it was "Ill conceived." Then, they fill O'Reilly with the talking points, his ratings slipping by the day, and he goes out and claims all credit for the cancellation, in a desperate attempt to save their only rated cable show, and O'Reilly had nothing to do with the cancellation, it was the affiliate managers who actually had the balls to go against the parent company, not O'Reilly. I was disgusted that Austin, my home, was not one of the affiliatates to rebel. Okay, now it is time to tell you how brilliant your story was, and the thought of Rupert's mother doing the wild thing with OBL while parachuting was hilarious. You go Lew!!!

Lew...such imagination! The only thing that gets me through the OJ business (the murders) is that he is and will always be a pariah. He knows most everyone thinks he is a murderer. Everyday he is passed on the street someone yells murderer to him. That has got to get to him some of the time. He also has that smirk on his face of...I got away with it and you can't do anything about it! But his day is coming.

Happy Thanksgiving!
