Let Me Count The Ways

War supporters say that the only reason that people oppose the war in Iraq is because they hate Bush. While many may hold a certain enmity towards him, there are many reason why we oppose the war. Here are just a few. Pick one, or use them all, either way you slice it up, this is not a 'good war'.

1.Raped Iraqi woman feared US troops: reportWho's the terrorists?
2.Abu Ghraib
3. Depleted UraniumCauses diabetes, as well as cancer and deformities.
4. Cost of wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to top $500 billion
5.Many US Iraq vets return to homelessnessWay to support the troops! Use them up and throw them away, disposable citizens.
6.US didn't find WMD despite claimsNo ties to alQaeda either.
7.Documents obtained from Army relating to Halliburton subsidiary no bid contractsDick Cheney had a hand in their acquisition by his old company.
8.Keeping Iraq's Oil in the GroundSo we can fund hundred million dollar retirement funds for all oil executives!
9.The Lie of the Century
10.Iraq War Started To Protect Israel.Shhh! Don't tell anyone!
11.HadithaEyewitness account.
12.Bush uncle set to earn millions from company that profited from Iraq warKeeping it in the family!
13.Iraq in Civil war As if any war could be considered civil.
14. 8000 troops desert during Iraq warBecause it's not a just war!
14.One third of US Iraqi Vets seek mental health careApparently they found out Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.
15.90% of Troops think Saddam had role in 9/11 72% say end war in 2006
16.There is no war on terrorism Something I've always said!
17.NSA spying on UN delegates To gain leverage for a resolution. If they've done that for the UN, what makes you think they haven't done that for Congress?
18.U.S. Military Covertly Pays to Run Stories in Iraqi Press Otherwise they'd never read good news!
19.Use of white phosphorous at Falluja a war crime.
20.50% of Americans approve of the use of torture Would you approve of watching soldiers torture your children?
21.Who gassed the puppy? We know it couldn't have been Iraq!
22.Forged Yellow cake uranium documents
23.Afghan war planned before 9/11.As well as the invasion of Iraq!
24.P2OG Remember the Miami 7?(scroll down)
25.The real reason we invaded Iraq Saddam starts trading oil in euros.
26.CIA agent name leaked in retaliation for her husband's op-ed piece in NYT.
27.2538 dead US soldiersAny of the above reasons justification? I think not.
28.Over 250,00 Iraqi civilians deadBut we did get those WMD, right?

Thanks to the archives at What Really Happened and Information Clearinghouse for allowing me to plunder their links. I could really go at this for a week, but wouldn't have this finished for today!

Why oh why is the msm silent on these? Could it be we are living in a facist state? Yep. That was a lot of work you did and well worth keeping on hand.

I agree with all of this except #10. The Iraq war was not started to protect Israel - this implies an almost occult power that Jews & the State of Israel are rumored to posses to influence others to act against their own interests.

"Instead of agitating for war, Jews in this country should be opposing it in every way, for they will be the first to feel its consequences. Their greatest danger to this country lies in their large ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio and our government."

That's Charles Lindbergh, Des Moines, Iowa, 1941, the famous speech in which he said there are only three groups trying to get America into war--the Roosevelt Administration, Great Britain and the Jews.

Patrick Buchanan said just prior to Bush Sr's Gulf War in 1991 that the only people who wanted us to get into that conflict was the Israeli Military and their "amen corner" here in the USA.

Buchanan named four Americans - all Jews - who were dragging us into the Gulf War. In fact, the only people dragging us into THAT were George Herbert Walker Bush, Brent Scowcroft, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney and James Baker. Not a Jew among 'em.

But, of course, Iraq is different. And one of the themes of the Mearsheimer-Walt article is that, in fact, Iraq was a war concocted by Jews to protect Israel, which itself is absurd on about eight levels. But the ultimate refutation is the simple fact that the war was devised and planned and conceived by a war cabinet whom we all know--George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, George Tenet, and if I could add someone from outside that, the other well-known Jewish neoconservative, Tony Blair.

So many people who oppose this illegal war are Jewish Americans who also support Israel. It disturbs me to no end to feel this increasing alienation and this dangerous undercurrent of Anit-Semitism. It takes the focus away from the real criminals who dragged the USA into this war.

Peace.

Forgive me cause I'm going to copy something that I posted over at Blognonymous into your comments.

Your list is excellent, but I think that war opposition in all of its forms and particulars boils down to the following:

War is sometimes necessary and should be moral, short, targeted, proportional, and defensive. The War on Terror and it's main theater of operations, the War in Iraq, are none of these things. Quite the contrary, this war is immoral in its justifications and conduct, long by contemporary standards, indiscriminate, disproportional, and offensive.

...which sort of sums it up for me.

Extensive list, Lew. Sad that there are so many reasons...and so few for starting it. One would almost think no lives hung in the balance...one would almost think getting it right was irrelevant.

divajood-If you followed the link (they all are links to stories) it would explain that was one of the reasons given (and used by Cindy Sheehan, by the way) until the Israeli government asked Bush not to use it anymore.
Glenda,
sure good ahead. i'm going to use it myself over at The Kommandos project for anyone who may have pciked up some of my recently deployed kommandos (and there were quite a few).
Thanks everyone for participating in the Peace train project.

Lew, I followed the link. I stand with my comment. Your comprehensive list is amazing, and I agree with all of it, except #10.

And I really love kvatch's comment, which really sums up this war for me as well. Can I borrow it, kvatch? A nation cannot wage war on an idea (terrorism.) Bushco invaded another country. That's wrong by all counts.

I had NO idea there were so many military personnel deserting every single year.

I'm not really surprised. I just .. wow. I guess I just thought folks left by more, I don't know, formal manners.

That's a great list, Lew. Peace, man.

With but one minute left on the 230th anniversary of American independence, I feel compelled to indisputably state the following: This once great Nation has forever lost its way, and shall never again reclaim Her former glory... May our mourning of this loss immortalize our treasured former republic.

This is not going to be a pissing contest as a Jew you simply must not understand the difference between a Jew and a Zionist.
I am sending a link for you to research someone else's years of hard work so that you may understand better... or at least become more informed... WWW.Iamthewitness.com
The general belief is all the persons you named and the zionist have all things in common "The New World Order" by whatever means inevitable.
