The Monkey God's Middle Finger

Every country has it's own sacred ground. In Jerusalem, for instance, is the Dome of the Rock, a piece of dirt sacred to both the Jewish people and the Muslims. England has the Cavern Club, a sacred place for rock fans world wide, and Australia has the Outback, where Crocodile Dundee once killed a crocodile with an oversized knife.
Here in America, we have Ground Zero, a place hallowed by right wingers and neocons as a place where over 3000 Americans of all walks of life, and all religions, died so that the Cheney/Bush Axis of Evil would have carte blanche to start wars anywhere there was an Arab bowing towards Mecca. So naturally when plans for a mosque three blocks away from this consecrated ground were announced, the constitution quoters and theocracy seekers had a fit. It's almost as if Hezbollah, the Lebanese political party was planning on building a 'terrorist' theme park there. And almost on cue, professional Islamophobe Sarah Palin, who refudiated charges the Tea Party is racist, joined forces with Tea Party racist Mark Williams to fight the Monkey God's Middle Finger to Manhattan.
It's the Right Wing Fear Factory in full effect. This being an election year, they need something, anything to scare the good little Christ-Stains into suporting their party (the whole abortion thing, being played out, as it wouldn't take very long for someone on the left to point out that with a Republican Congress and administration they did nothing to stop that wedge issue)by stoking up the fears that yes indeedy-those Mooslems, they taking over, and soon will be forcing us to bow to Allah and Mecca everyday.

2010:Still No Change

At last Saturday's Tea party convention, professional political harpy Sarah Palin asked, mockingly, "How's that hope-y change-y thing working out for ya?", barely paraphrasing a right wing talking point from last summer. This and her eventual outrage at Rahm Emmanuel's "fucking retards" of last summer, illustrate how slow her reaction time is, as well as how out of touch she is with events going on around her.
The truth is, there is no "change-y" thing. While President Obama may have stated "even greater cooperation and understanding between nations" in his inaugural address, he has since hinted that he may go the George Bush/Dick Cheney route of unilateral action against Iran. Hell, we have them circled now, it's only a matter of time before a justification miraculously occurs, and them bombs start flying and people start dying. So other than the obvious reasons, how is Obama any different than you, Sarah Palin?
We know why the tea partiers hate President Obama so much, despite his continuation of Bush/Cheney policies. So continue to criticize him for doing things you would have backed had your party won the election. You don't seem bitter to me at all. America will always be better off without people like you who have to be reminded to lift America's spirit!

Just What Are You Trying To Say?

This must be a good time to be pharmacist, what with all those tightly wound right wing nuts living in a state of constant fear, I'm sure they need a myriad of prescriptions. There's the anxiety caused by socialized medicine, the fear of rising tax rates, sleepless nights caused by illegal immigration, and now the awful truth of Muslims moving in and taking over.
Well, thank goodness for the red, white and blue, that's how you can tell a super patriot from just an "American". Wearing the stars and stripes on everything means you really, really, really, really, love this country, even though you can't stand half the people living in it. I would really be interested in hearing their solution to the "Muslim" problem.
Another thing I don't understand is what exactly these protests are against, or what they hope to accomplish with them. As someone who stood against the war in Iraq before it began, let me tell you, protesting doesn't really accomplish anything, except maybe giving the corporate media an opportunity to make protests look ridiculous. So are they protesting the Wall Street bailouts? No, because they started with Bush, and none of these people were angry about it then. Are they protesting the out-of-control spending by our government? NO, because if they were really concerned they would have opposed the out of control spending by our government for the war in Iraq. So what are they against? Non-existent "death panels"?
No, simply put, these are people who haven't gotten over that so many "Americans" would betray the country and elect Barack Hussein Obama president because "He's running this country into the ground".
Where have these idiots been for the last eight years? Watching Fox News!

(Once again, picture poached from Born At The Crest Of The Empire Thanks Mike!)

If You Only Get Upset When De Black Folk Do It, Then You Are Definitely A Racist

Our democracy is a farce, a charade put on to keep each side bickering with each other while those in Congress we elect to serve us rush out billion dollar bail outs for bankster cronies as millions of people are dying for better health care reform.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you one Dan Broun, an alarmist with in the Republican party, which, ever since Obama became president, alarmist and Republican has become a redundancy.
Rep. Broun, from Georgia, who came to prominence last year when he suggested the Army ban sales of controversial reading material such as Playboy, fears the Democrats are creating a totalitarian state. Funny, but that's what many on the left felt about the Bush administration. Broun cites Obama's call last year during his campaign for a a civilian national security force as the first step in the takeover of the government. However, when the Bush administration created the Civilian Defense Force two years ago, Broun must have been too busy researching his positions on adult themed publications he was looking to ban for sale to our troops to notice that, indeed, we were moving towards a totalitarian state. Nor did Broun make a fuss about Cheney using Blackwater Security as his own private security force.
Broun also cites a ban on gun ownership as one of the things Obama has to bring about the Democrats totalitarian state. Wait a minute! Do you mean we can't own guns? When did this happen? Broun didn't squeak when Homeland Security banned shampoo, perfume and bottled water on flights as potential weapons, perhaps he prefer that smelly people with dirty hair deserve to be thirsty, I don't know, but when the government can deny you these simple items, can totalitarianism be far behind?
Finally, Broun cited President Obama's control of the media as another step towards totalitarianism. This is, of course, the same "liberal" corporate media that in 2002 essentially became an arm of the Bush administration's propaganda campaign for an illegal invasion of a country that never posed a threat to this country at all, the same media that from September of 2001 to August 2005 never dared to speak, print or publish the slightest negativity about President Bush, now he thinks somehow Obama has control of it? Or, do the corporations that control our media also control the person in the Oval Office, be they Republican or Democrat?
I think that Rep. Broun had no problem with the US becoming a totalitarian state, as long as it was run by a rich white Republican good ol' boy from TexaConnecticut, but now that it's in the hands of an urbane, well spoken Nigrah from Chy-cago, well now it's time to pine tar up the Ol' Rugged Cross boys, we got us a sacred ritual to perform.

Conservatives Are Funny People, It's Just That You're Not In On The Joke

Oh, those poor misunderstood conservatives. It's not that they're not funny, it's just that nobody "gets" their sense of humor, with the exception, of course, of other conservatives.
Take the wonderfully open minded folks at the Free Republic. Please. When some comments there made comments about Malia Obama looking like a "street whore", it was a joke made out of fear that soon, their daughters, like President Obama's, will be forced to dress like a common street trollop instead of the high-class hookers they want them to dress like. And asking them to apologize for it would be liking David Letterman to apologize for any inappropriate jokes he may have made about Sarah Palin's daughter. Except people actually watch David Letterman. I don't know anybody who would admit to visiting the Free Republic, except to catch updates on the homosexualagenda.
Even funnier is Pat Buchanan, dear old Uncle Pat to some people, which is why I don't understand why no one got his joke about how Todd Palin "ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops.” Such wit and wordplay going on there! Levi, is of course, Levi Johnston, father to Todd Palin's bastard grandchild, and he made the mistake of actually speaking his mind, which is not funny in conservative circles. And Buchanan, former speechwriter for President Nixon, was probably recalling the good-old-days when political opponents were taken down to the Tidal Basin and drowned on a regular basis.
But by far, the funniest conservative is pro-assassination analyst Wayne Simmons who stated that Dick Cheney would never break the law. Sure, he may commit treason, get drunk and shoot his hunting partner in the face, fabricate intelligence to lead the US into an illegal war, lie about connections between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, and run a top secret assassination squad out of his office, but he would never break the law.
So the next time you hear a conservative reel off a really tasteless statement, just remember, it's just a joke. And don't expect them to apologize for your obvious lack of a sense of humor.

Post Debate Thoughts

What happens after the election? One of the two major party candidates will go on to the White House, while the other will return to the Senate. This was what I started thinking about last night while I was watching the debate (and liveblogging over at The Guys From Area 51). After being puzzled by the whole Joe The Plumber incident, I began to wonder, who would be most productive in the Senate should they lose the election?
Barack Obama, I believe would lose as gracefully as he has run his campaign, and go back to the Senate where he will continue on.
McCain, however, will not be as gracious in defeat. McCain has already blamed Obama for the negativity of his own campaign, repeating the charge again last night at the debate. And while the GOP keeps making racist attacks on Obama, again and again, last night McCain claimed his feelings were hurt by some statements made about him at Obama rallies by Obamaniacs. Suddenly, Sen. McCain has become sensitive.
Or the biggest baby in the world.

Animal On Display

See this video.

Watch CBS Videos Online
It is not funny. It is not cool. It is not intelligent. It is not acceptable. It is disgraceful, distasteful, shameful, and a racist embarrassment. In short, it is a perfect example of America for the whole world to see. (Even more disgraceful are the comments at the CBS News blog where this was lifted from.)
This was taken at a rally where Sarah Palin was speaking. Until she entered the campaign, many of the Christian Republican base were not enthusiastic about McCain. But now that she has, they have come out of the woodwork, displaying their true colors. Ignorant and racist. Intolerant. Instead of elevating us all, our political campaigns drag us all down to the level of the Moron Majority, wrapped it up in a flag and called it patriotism.

Republicans:The Missing Link

Palintology-The belief that dinosaurs and humans co-existed, with humans utilizing pterodactyl as airliners, brontosaurus as steam shovels, woolly mammoth as dishwashers, stegosaurus as garbage disposals, and kept saber toothed tigers as pets. Humans also tooled around in stone cars, propelled by their feet accompanied by a bongo solo.
Just how patriotic are the people who support the GOP ticket? Patriotic enough to call for the assassination of a presidential candidate. Just how misguided are these window licking mouth breathers? The policies of the last eight years, the same policies that John "Mavericky" McCain and Sarah Palin are running on have caused retirements accounts to lose $2 trillion in the last 15 months. (Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster that George Bush and John McCain weren't able to privatize Social Security) So instead of being pissed off that they are now likely to have to work until they die (in other words, worked to death), they take it out on the one person in Congress least likely to have caused it. That's not smart. That's fucking regressive. And so, there you have it, the missing link between the Neanderthals and modern man the Palintologisyts of the Republican Party.

Republicans Attempt To Dupe The Television Watchers

I'll admit that I haven't been watching the RNC. To me it seemed to be too much like American Idol, all ceremony and no substance. Who wants to watch a bunch of white people cheer and fight to keep their tax cuts for the millions they've made defrauding the American taxpayer in little thing called the war in Iraq? Who wants to see a bunch of racists criticize Sen. Obama for being uppity? No, I'd rather write questionable blog posts based on satirical pieces I took as truth (see previous post).
But now, I don't feel so bad about being suckered in, not after I read that fake soldiers were used in a video shown at the RNC. I guess they couldn't use real soldiers because Obama nets more military donors than John McCain. I guess they remember who cut their benefits in a time of war. And that;s something that all the flag waving and questionable displays of patriotism can't cover up.

Ghouliani:The Final Solution

When you're a one-issue candidate, you tend to attract the singly simple-minded people, as is the case with Rudy Ghouliani, as this video of Rudy's New Hampshire campaign official shows. To this obviously Fox News addled idiot, it's much easier to wipe the planet clean of Muslims (or at least chase them back into their caves)than it is to:
1)address the security issues that allowed a horrendous assault on the US to occur in the first place, or
2)address the geopolitical issues that cause the Muslim population to "hate" Americans in the first place.

Random Rantings

Last week, on Face The Nation, independent (yeah, right) Senator Joe Lieberman advocated the bombing of Iran. While not in line with the way many people feel about excelerating the MidEast conflict (most of them want it ended, hence the Democraps control of Congress in 2006), it is in line with the neocons and the Israeli government, who have been looking for an excuse to drop nuclear weapons on Iran for as long as two years ago. As Charley Reese put it:
Iran has no intercontinental missiles, and the only country in the Middle East with nuclear weapons is Israel. Please note that the United States flatly refuses to endorse the idea of a nuclear-free Middle East. Iran has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel has refused to sign it. Iran admits international inspectors. Israel flatly refuses to allow international inspectors. The only country in today's Middle East with weapons of mass destruction and a history of invading and occupying other people's countries is Israel.

As for Iran's alleged threat to "wipe Israel off the map," that is propaganda based on a mistranslation. Nobody in Iran has ever threatened to attack Israel militarily. The accurate quotes from Iranians have been simply that Israel as a Zionist state will eventually collapse, just as the Soviet Union as a communist state did. Iranian officials have even explicitly said they have no desire or intention of attacking Israel.

The Bush Doctrine Applied To Other Countries
Now suppose Iran, who has been threatened by not only the US, but Israel as well, decided to pre emptively strike first? Wouldn't that be okay? By the Bush regime's specious reasoning, the attacks on 9/11 were perfectly justified because the US had threatened the Taleban first with a carpet of bombs, after they rejected our carpet of gold to build a pipeline through their country.
Send Your Kids To Die, Leave Mine Alone
Mitt Romney has stated he wants to increase the size of the military. But like Joe Lieberman, Rudy Ghouliani, or any other war pimps running for the presidency (which includes everyone, with the exception of Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, and Mike Gravel), none of them have any family members in the military.
That's why there's the big push to pass the immigration "reform" bill, not only will it lower wages by flooding the labor pool, but:
a provision in the stalled immigration bill that would have allowed some undocumented aliens to join the military

What right-thinking white person wouldn't endorse a war where we send all them brown-skinned people from over here to fight all them brown-skinned people over there? When this bill passes, it won't matter that the Army missed it's recruitment goals, because there'll be plenty of people to send off to kill and die for big oil and the military-industrial complex. Especially when the war engulfes the whole MidEast because some idiots decided we needed to bomb Iran.

The Bitter Race For Third Place

Is the irony of John "Flapjack" McCain calling out Mitt Romney for his politically convenient position on abortion lost on anyone? Here we have the man who criticized evangelicals in politics now pandering to them. So now we have a real campaign, with two less-than-saintly people trying to outdoor each other in a holier-than-thou competition. Is third front runner status so important that these people have to start throwing each other under the bus?
I guess McCain has to make up for all the support he lost when he backed Bush's wacky immigration scheme, which was not too popular with the love-thy-neighbor-as-long-as-he's-white-speaks-english-and-votes-Republican crowd. And since Ghouliani has carved out a niche with his incessant invocation of 9/11 (which seems to be working, oddly enough), and Fred Thompson cannonballed into the pool of Republican contenders, knocking McCain back even farther than McCain was able to do on his own, McCain had to do something to save his, well "credibility" isn't the right word because he doesn't have any of that left, but something akin to it. So Johnny-Boy decided the best thing to do is to appeal to the Christiansane right. Next I expect he'll be equating Mormons with Satanism, which isn't too far off the mark, as far as the Bible thumping brigade is concerned. Let's hope the campaign gets more interesting from here.

Give It Up, Johnny Boy

Seriously, does John McCain really want the Republican nomination? His recent attempt to derail his own "Straight Talk Express" came when he used the term tar baby in a response to a question on a campaign stop in Iowa today.
"For me to stand here and … say I'm going to declare divorces invalid because of someone who feels they weren't treated fairly in court, we are getting into a tar baby of enormous proportions and I don't know how you get out of that."

Mitt Romney also used the term to describe Boston's big dig project, leading one to believe that, well, all Republicans are racists (and ones of the early twentieth century variety to boot).
McCain also stumbled on a question on whether or not he supported federally subsidized condoms to Africa to prevent the spread of HIV.
McCain has said he won't formally announce his candidacy until April. At the rate he's going, by then he won't even be a contender.
