A Tale Of Two Riots

Following the results of alleged election fraud, riots broke out in Iran. Stupid Iranians. It's just an election, not like it's anything important. I mean, when vote fraud was discovered in the US presidential election, Florida in 2000, and Ohio in 2004, Americans didn't take to the street. Of course, many of them didn't even hear about the fraud until way after the election, but that's beside the point. Americans don't really take to the streets unless it's for something really important and life affecting.
Like a basketball championship. Elections are only every four years, but the NBA playoffs, they hold those every year. And winning those is really important because it determines bragging rights for a bunch of beer swilling television watchers until next year. So it's no surprise that Lakers fans rioted after their team won the NBA championship. Now those official Laker jerseys mean something, at least for another year, and really what's more important anyway?

YES, I VOTED

.....but I didn't vote for Barack Obama.
I've been voting since 1980. In that election, I cast my vote for John Anderson. he was an independent, much like Ron Paul, who ran in the primaries as a Republican, generating a large following, then losing the nomination to Ronald Reagan. So, in my first election, I voted for the loser.
I then began to see no real clear difference between the two major parties. They existed as other duopolies exist in our country; to shut out the other guys. Coke or Pepsi? Why not Dr. Pepper? McDonald's or Burger King? Why not Subway? National League or American league, tastes great or less filling, America the land of abundant choice had now been reduced down to the lesser of two evils. Which, if you do the math, is still evil.
So I voted third party. In 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996, I opted out of the Democrap/Republicant part and instead chose to cast my ballot with the Libertarian Party. Of course, it helped that at the time, I was a major stoner and liked their stance on the decriminalization of marijuana. And I accepted that my candidate wouldn't win, because I knew that I only got one vote, and if I didn't use it, it would be gone. You can't accumulate them and cash them all in on one election. And I figured not voting was as bad as voting for the major parties, it would be like saying, I accept what either party has to offer.
But in 2000, something changed. As bad as other candidates had been in the past (and remember, I had the opportunity to vote Democrat against Ronald Reagan, easily one of the most vile presidents we had ever had, twice), that year, the Republicans offered a candidate that actually made Reagan seem appealing:George W Bush.
So, in the primaries, I voted Republican against George Bush ( for, you guessed it, John McCain) not only because I found him to be morally reprehensible then, but because Michigan's then Governor, Republican John Engler, had promised to deliver Michigan to Bush in the primaries. (He didn't. McCain actually won it) And in November of that year, I voted, for the first time, for a major party candidate.
Well, we all know what happened. The vote was stolen, which only served to infuriate me more because the first time I ever vote for the winning candidate, and the opposition steals the election. So, in 2004, I voted against Bush again.
I'm not playing that game any more. While I certainly prefer Barack Obama over John McCain, I'm fairly confident that Obama will win Michigan, with or with out my vote. McCain conceded Michigan long ago, when he pulled his advertising. If the popular vote counted, I might have been persuaded to vote for Obama, but since it all depends on who wins the electoral votes, I returned to voting my conscience.
I voted for Cynthia McKinney. I liked her when she demanded an investigation into 9/11, and I liked her even more when she slapped that cop. And I know she'll never win, if white America feels nervous about electing a black man president, a black female probably scares them more.

You CanTell It's An Election Year When..........

Yesterday at work we received a printout of this warning from the USFDA about food defense and terrorism, which, after bringing much laughter and derision ( What with MFN Chinese government still sending us food laced with melanine), reminded me that this is an election year and once again the politicizing of government agencies to put fear into voters continues unabated under he Bush administration. (Remember the Justice Department's investigation into ACORN in 2004 which was carried out because Bush had politicized the DOJ?) Is this another case of manipulating terror threat levels right before an election?
Another way you can tell it's an election is falling gas prices, which also happened before the 2006 election. There really hasn't been any major changes in the oil markets to indicate why this has happened, nor have we begun drilling offshore, yet gas prices have fallen almost a dollar or more in the last couple of weeks.
So besides these two things, along with lawns cluttered with signs (because I really care which way a homeowner is going to vote) and rampant vote theft by the GOP what are other indications this is an election year?

So Arianna Huffington says that John McCain told her he didn't vote for George Bush in 2000. Guess what? A lot of people didn't. In fact, if not for widespread voter fraud, Bush wouldn't have "won" the election.
It's understandable how McCain wouldn't vote for Bush. After all Karl Rove and the Bush campaign had a number of smears against McCain.
My personal favorite?

“McCain may be unstable as a result of being tortured while a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.”

This from the people who have made torture the new American way.
Of course, the point of the article at HuffPo is that the McCain who couldn't stomach voting for Bush in 2000 is now embracing him (even though his approval numbers are at an all time low) so desperate is he to become president. Just another example of Flapjack Johnny flipping once again.

Psychic Me (Not Really)

There's an old joke that goes something like this:
Bill: I can tell you the score of the Super Bowl before the game starts.
Ted:Can you? than what is it?
Bill: before the game starts the score is always tied 0-0.

But I can tell you who will be the big winner in today's Pennsylvania primary, even though at this time the polls will still be open for a few more hours.

If you haven't guessed by now who I think will win big today, let me tell you it won't be Barack Obama. Sen. Clinton needs to win this and win big if she wants to stay in the race and continue destroying Sen. Obama. Her campaign is in debt and running out of money. A big win might draw more dollars dropped in to her war chest. A big win may temporarily quell any call for her to quit. It's New Hampshire all over again.

Hillary has stated that she will totally obliterate Iran, proving to the military-industrial complex that she's as reckless as Bush when it comes to using America's military might. (While she did state that in reference to Iran attacking Israel, Iran, which has no nuclear weapons, has no desire to attack Israel, which does, no matter what lies the Iran war propaganda machine repeat incessantly).While I hope I am wrong about Pennsylvania, poll numbers have been all over the place in the last week as far as support for each candidate, which may have been a ruse to help disguise the vote fraud.

Conservative Windbag Flaunts The Law Again

In the Michigan primaries this year, I had three choices, if indeed I did choose to vote. I could have voted for Sen. Clinton, or I could have voted uncommitted, neither which would have mattered since the Michigan delegation won't be seated at the Democratic Convention for violation party laws and having it's primary early. My third choice was to vote Republican.
I voted for Ron Paul.
Unlike Rush Limbaugh who has been asking listeners to break the law,cross party lines, and commit voter fraud, the only way Republicans can win, I wasn't breaking the law. As I have explained before, I am a registered Republican. Happy with his results in Ohio extending the Democratic primary, Rush is now asking Shittoheads in Pennsylvania to do the same. Dubbing it "Operation Chaos", the republican propagandist will do any underhanded trick to keep the party in control of the White House, even though the ones in charge now have nearly completely decimated the whole country.
But if you dig deeper, this is really a method to keep the White House in the hands of the Council on Foreign Relations of which Senators Clinton, McCain and Obama are all members, as well as Rush Limbaugh himself. But McCain and Clinton are drinking buddies who bonded in Estonia three years ago, probably while Senator Clinton was dodging sniper fire. Senator Obama, a junior member, probably lacks the alcohol tolerance that the other two senators have, which would make him no fun at Russian summit meetings where the latest president there could drink him under the table.
So now Mr. Law and Order doctor shopping drug smuggling and vote fraud perpetrating Rush has broken the law again. There probably isn't a cell that can hold him, literally.

Poor Dick Can't Get His War on

The Saudi King Abdullah has rejected any military strike against Iran in a meeting with VP Dick Cheney.
Wait a minute-wasn't the reason for Dick's visit to discuss peace, and oil? I'm sure that no one is surprised that once again we have been lied to, not only by the Bush administration, but by the corporate media.
But clearly, what's more disturbing than the fact that Cheney could give a fuck about US citizen's opposition to war is the fact that he has to beg for permission from somewhere else. I guess Cheney feels the American people have had their input into war no matter if the 2004 election was rigged.

Not-So-Strange Bedfellows

Does it seem strange to anyone else that with fifty states, Rudy Ghouliani is focusing one just one-Florida? especially when his chief stategist says:

“A lot of us on this campaign have learned a lot of politics and get out the vote strategies from the Bush-Cheney-Mehlman-Rove machine, and we’re replicating all those things,”he said. “They work great, we’ve seen them work great in Florida in the past.”

And what strategy is that?
And does it seem odd that when Rudy gave a speech to a church yesterday that Katherine Harris was also in attendance?
