Not Again!

Along with the financial burden of rising gas prices, rising food prices, increased inflation (due to the falling dollar) and the stock market dropping 256 points, now President Bush feels that we should feel that the Iraq war is a burden worth bearing. Funny, none of his family, or his cronies families are suffering, or serving overseas for that matter, but hey, the rest of us can shoulder that burden. Thank you!
But now, along with these burdens, get ready room on your shoulder for yet another. Dick Cheney feels we should start another war. Already, the propaganda has begun. Photos of "alleged" missile sites are being circulated,"unidentified" speed boats approaching naval patrol boats in the Gulf are being identified as Iranian by the corporate media propaganda machine and the neocons are using Gen. Petraeus's hearing as an excuse to attack Iran.
In my estimation, we will see a continuation of the anti-Iranian propaganda in the corporate media, a la the Iraq invasion. Smart people won't fall for it, but most of the idiot television watchers, with their shortened attention spans will eat it up with a side of citrus teriyaki wings and a Diet Pepsi Max to wash it down. At some point in time, after the Democratic candidacy is decided, an attack will begin, just in time to help John McCain sweep the election, riding a wave of renewed patriotism and rigged voting machines.

Bush's Boogeyman is Back

Curiously timed and conveniently undated videotape of Osama Bin Laden has surfaced, right when we have Bush administration officials proclaiming their "gut feelings" about imminent terrorist attacks and then being ridiculed all over everywhere for it. This was then followed up by Condi Rice proclaiming warning signs of a terrorist attack.
And now we have Osama, once again providing tape of an unspecified origin, right when the Bush administration needs their boogeyman. Support for the war in Iraq is slipping, not only amongst the citizens of America, but amongst the GOP itself. What better way to cloud the minds of the people with fear than to wave the scariest boogeyman (and former CIA asset) at them. That is so, like, 2004, dude.
Now we know that while we're bogged down with war in Iraq Al Qaeda has regrouped in Pakistan and garnered more recruits, making them stronger than ever. While we're wasting time waging a war against Iran, we're no safer than we were on September 10, 2001. All the illegal wiretaps, torture and spying on the American people haven't made us any safer, and neither has the Republican party, or it's incompetent leadership in the White House, which has bathed itself in secrecy to no end. But in order to end this madness, we need a new strategy, which no front runner from either party has offered up, only the same old same old, which has been so (in)effective so far.

Beyond Psychopathic

There's crazy, then beyond that is pure bull goose loony, and even farther out is a space occupied by George W. Bush. It's not that he ordered the sugeon general to mention his name three times a page in speeches made. that's just mildly meglomaniacal. Nor is it his claim that the insurgency in Iraq is the same as the ones who attacked us on 9/11. Which puts the commander guy at complete odds with what the commanders on the ground are saying. Bush is losing support for the war in Iraq, and so, as in the past, he has trotted out that day which is becoming a dim memory to those people who are dealing with rising prices, a jump in foreclosures, and the final sign of the apocalypse, the Spice Girls reunion. But I think that day has been all used up by the Bush adminsitration and the propagandists in the corporate media. Which is why I agree with Cindy Sheehan (who wasn't the first to float the idea, anyone who can do simple math could add it up) when she says the Bush administration will stage another terror attack to jump start a war with Iran and declare martial law here at home. (You don't think they created a unitary executive to hand it over to Hillary Clinton in January 2009?)
Bush has reached a point where he can admit an administration official committed an act of treason (and was very well taken care of)and not have anyone in the corporate media bat an eye.
Maybe Bush's insanity is caused by the fact that no-one has ever held him accountable.

Who'll Clean Up L'il Georgie's Mess?

Like a cat who cries when it's litter box is full, the US has pressed the Iraqi government to clean up the sectarian violence. You know, the violence that started after the US occupation based on claims of WMD that were never there. In other words, if we had just lefy Iraq alone, there would be no sectarian violence there.
Also, 3528 soldioers would still be alive, over 655,000 Iraqi civilians would still be alive, and two million Iraqi refugees would still have homes. But don't expect the US administration to be held accountable for any of this, we're talking about a president who probably never had to clean up a danged thing his entire life. So better to point the finger of blame at the Iraqi government. As is always the case with the Republican party, personal responsibility is something they expect from the other guy.

What's Right For America?

George W Bush today attacked opponents of his immigration bill by saying "they don't want to do what's right for America." This of course begs the question: Does Bush know what's right for America?
-He ignored intelligence on alQaeda's determination to strike in the US. This led to 9/11. Was that the right thing to do for America?
-His rampant cronyism in political appointments put an incompetent in charge of FEMA (Michael Brown) who was unable to respond to a major crisis (Hurricane Katrina). He also put another crony (Paul Wolfowitz)in charge of the World Bank, who then shook them down for a raise for his mistress. Was that right for America?
-His choice for VP schemed to concoct false intelligence that was the basis for a war based on lies with no clear mission, and no viable exit strategy. Now the war has gone on to create more animosity towards the US, recruiting more extremists who wish to attack Americans. Was that good for America?
-Has signed a directive that allows him to stay in power in order to assure "continuity of government" in case of any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions. This decision is left to the deciderer, and we know how good his decisions have been in the past. Is establishiong a corporatic dictatorship good for America?
So Bush thinks this latest bill is good for he country, but is it good for the US to flood the labor pool when forty million American skilled workers are about to have their jobs outsourced by the corpocracy? Espesially when the US economy is leaving record numbers in severe poverty. Just how out of touch is the president?

''Last November, the American people said they were frustrated and wanted a change in our strategy in Iraq,'' he said April 24. ''I listened. Today, General David Petraeus is carrying out a strategy that is dramatically different from our previous course.''
''I recognize there are a handful there, or some, who just say, 'Get out, you know, it's just not worth it. Let's just leave.' I strongly disagree with that attitude. Most Americans do as well.''

Is it right for America to have a leader so out of touch, so deep in denial that he has no idea what the message was that people sent to him and the other members of the corpocracy last November?
No.It is not.

The Very Definition Of Insanity

Some people never learn. After years of covert US operations around the globe, the Bush administration authorized new covert operations against Iran. Maybe this time things won't get totally fucked-up, but given Bush's track record, if I was a wet dream, I'd be pretty fucking scared right now. No wonder so many people want to get rid of Bush.
The thing is, the IAEA has still to find all the things the corporate media has claimed Iran is guilty of. But that won't stop the US from starting another war. I guess they can always call in the UN after they totally botch that war, too

Greatest American Zero

Like Ralph Hinkley (or is it Hanley?) discovering a new power with his wacky outer space suit, George W. Bush has discovered the power of the veto. Only his powers don't come from some ET's, it comes from the Constitution and the fact that there is somewhat of an opposition party in Congress. He first discovered this power last year, when he vetoed a bill on stem cell research. He used this mysterious power for the second time last weeek to veto a bill for Iraq war funding that set a timetable for withdrawal.
Now Bush has threatened to use this power on legislation that isn't even being considered. You see Bush, perhaps seeking approval from someone somwhere for something has threatened to veto any bill that attempts to weaken federal policies that restrict abortion. This was hailed by the hypocrites at the National Right To Life, who feel it's wrong to kill the unborn, but perfectly okay to send their fathers to their deaths in an illegal unwinnable unending war.(Not to mention the 655,000+ Iraqi civilians killed in the war, plus uncounted unborn Muslim babies) Bush needs to shore up support among his base because not only has he cost his party control of Congress, it's fairly certain that he has also blown their chance of holding onto the White House.

The Suffering Of The Bushes

On Wednesday's Today show, Laura Bush stated that "No one suffers more than their president and I do", when it comes to Iraq. Certainly the people of Iraq aren't suffering. The 15 people who died and 25 who were injured when a suicide bomber blew up a police checkpoint today, they aren't suffering. The families of the eleven US troops that died on Monday aren't suffering, having lost loved ones for a war that has no obtainable mission (Why are we there this week? Al Qaeda? WMD? Links to 9/11? democracy?)
I'm sure , other than in the polls where Bush numbers are low, and Cheney's even lower, Bush hasn't really had to suffer at all. Sure, he's had to actualy meet with vetted crowds to try to sell the war again, causing to have to suffer the humiliation of flying in Air Force One, ride in limousines, and shake people's hands, hard work for someone who calls the greatest accomplishment of his presidency catching a seven pound fish on a stocked lake on his private ranch. I'm sure he suffers no pangs of conscience, because he has shown himself to be part of a group of sociopathic criminals who have no conscience.
It's been almost four years since Bush declared our mission in Iraq "accomplished", yet we keep sending more troops there to finish what should have never been started in the first place. And as more and more troops are slaughtered, how long will it be until the idiots of the world realize they can never be accomplished because for an army to win, they must believe they have the moral law on their side. Our invasion and ongoing occupation is a clear violation of international, so we are not on the side of right. And since the claims made by the ADDministration as to why we went there all turned out to be lies, the only reason we went there was to secure the oil for Big Oil, and enrich the defense contractors, who have seen their top CEO pay double in the last four years (at taxpayer expense).
So if Laura and George want to play the vicitms in this whole mess, there's one way to fulfill their martyr complex.................

The Emperor's Same Old Clothes

The president is coming to town tomorrow, already the blockades have been put up and the local media is in pre-orgasmic state unseen since Jerry Ford's funeral. A protest is also planned (of which I will not be attending due to work obligations) featuring Ray McGovern a retired CIA analyst who took on Donald Rumsfeld when the latter was Secretary of Defense.
Bush needs to preach to the kool-aid drinking choir, and they don't get much more kool-aid drinking than East Grand Rapids, where Bush is scheduled to speak. He needs to convince the few remaining supporters that the war in Iraq isn't lost, and even more important, it is still part of the war on terror. Because Zarqawi was there (allegedly), it makes perfect sense to destroy a whole sovereign nation to kill one man (unless that sovereign country is Pakistan, and the one man is Osama Bin Laden)

Bush can parade around East (as it's residents prefer to call it, disassociating and distancing themselves from the minorities and Polacks in regular ol' Grand Rapids) without fear of someone pointing out, hey! look! the president's not wearing any clothes! even though he has been parading around with naked glee at playing the Commander-in-Chief (until he realized, too, that the war was lost and began to seek out a "war czar" to be the scapegoat for the failures of his latest surge)for the last six years or so.
So by the time I leave work, the president wil be flown out of town, the peace demonstrators will all be beaten by police (who says we're not becoming a fascist state?)and hopefully the highways won't be blocked so the presidential motorcade doesn't have to share the roads with us common people that just got done paying the taxes that afford him the ability to fly around and make speeches for wars that can never be won.
UPDATE-My job is out by the airport, so I always worry when Bush or Cheney come to town that I'll be stuck in traffic while these wipes roll by in their motorcade. AS I was leaving the radio station I was tuned top said the highway from the airport to the Gerald Ford Museum would be shut down for the motorcade, so I quickly got on because I didn't want to be stuck with no gas waiting. Then I realized that the highway would be shut down the other way, so I continued on homeward. That's when I realized that Bush would becoming toward me on the other side. That when I looked ahead and noticed a line of cars with flashing lights coming from the other direction. Down went my window, out went my arm, and up went the finger, saluting him and his entourage as they sped pass. I don't know if he saw it or not, but all the way home I felt good (Even though I think flipping the bird is quite grotesque).

Through The Looking Glass

It looks like the Evil Empire's dirty trick squad is up to something. First came the report of a break in at Minnesota's DFL headquarters, in which a lap top was stolen. This was followded up by reports of break-in at New Hampshire's Democratic headquarters, which came five weeks after a Manchester Democratic headquarters was broken into as well. Hmmmm. Curioser and curiouser.
Could it be someone is seeking dirt on the Democrats? Maybe to justify the firings of all them federal prosecutors? Bush has already stated he will fight Congressional subpeonas of his staff in the ever growing attorney firing scandal. Perhaps learning his lesson following the perjury conviction of I. Lewis Libby, Bush said he would allow them to testify in private and not under oath (kinda sorta like his and Dick's testimony before the 9/11 commission. Am I the only one seeing a pattern here?), in other words, giving them carte blanche to lie to Congress (Hell, Bush did it, why not his staff?). Can we start impeachment yet?

If I Were These People, I'd Start Looking For A New School

President Bush today visited Enterprise High School which was devastated by tornadoes. Eight students died when it was hit, while a hundred got alive, which Bush touted as a miracle. No, you stupid fuckhead, a miracle is when God makes the impossible possible, such as Jesus walking on water or turning water into wine, or when the American people get a swift response from this president when a tragedy occurs. What has happened here was merely a run on good fortune.

"These are very tough times for the people here," Bush said. "Out of this rubble will emerge a better tomorrow."

Meanwhile New Orleans is still having problems 17 months after the devastation of Hurricane katrina getting their city rebuilt. Says Bush:" Hey I sent you people a check. What else do you want me to do? There's a war on that has distracted my short attention for the most part of my presidency." (No, he really didn't say that, although he surely thought it.)
Bush also put out a call to volunteers to help Enterprise rebuild, which means that the government can dump more cash down the sinkhole that is the war in Iraq:

"The best help they can get is when a citizen comes and builds them a house."

No, the best help people can get is from a responsive government that hasn't privatized services to the lowest bidder who then cuts corners to reap a bigger profit. Look how well that worked over at Walter Reed.
And so you have what will be the legacy of the Bush administration, a White House more obsessed with global hegemony than in actually helping out the taxpayers who fund these wars for global conquest.
